Only one correct answer, so no need for a hat. Congrats to Michael Thompson who correctly identified #1, #2, #3 as red-shouldered hawk, and #4 as broad-winged hawk. All are juveniles.
Most folks guessed red-shouldered and were correct, but I suspect made the assumption that all photos referred to the same species. The flight shots are fairly straight-forward for red-shouldered (#2 and #3) and broad-winged (#4). Overall shape, tail and wing pattern differentiate. For the perched bird, head and tail pattern are diagnostic (broad-winged would not show such a distinct dark eyeline).
Dont miss out on the hawks. Pack Monadnock is a blast at the moment.
