Visiting world renowned South Beach on Saturday August 24 and Stellwagen Bank on Sunday August 25th, this trip will focus on shorebirds, seabirds and whales.
South Beach: One of the top locations in the world to witness shorebird migration, almost 40 species have been tallied at this site and we can expect to see 20 or more. Accessed by a short boat ride, the day is spent walking on hardpack sand. Expect to walk up to 2 leisurely miles and see about 20 species of shorebirds, several species of terns, including Black Tern and Forster’s Tern, with a chance for Black Skimmer, Parasitic and/or Pomarine Jaeger.
Stellwagen Bank: Located closer inshore than comparable sites in New Hampshire, Provincetown is the ideal jumping off point to access Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, consistently rated as one of the top whalewatching sites in the world. Expect to see several species of whales, shearwaters, Wilson’s Storm-Petrels, and perhaps one or more species of jaeger.
Limited to ten people, the trip price of $650pp sharing includes:
- Van transportation from Manchester NH
- All meals
- Hotel accommodation in South Yarmouth
- Ferry to South Beach
- Whalewatch on Stellwagen Bank
We will leave Manchester Friday evening about 6pm and return Sunday evening at about the same time. Please contact me for more information.
This sounds like an incredible weekend! I’ve never been to South Beach but Provincetown, Chatham, and the surrounding areas are not to be missed in their own rights, so a birding trip to the Cape with someone else doing the driving? You’ve got a winner here!
