The American Birding Association has embarked upon a new birding initiative called the Earl Warning System. This is in response to reports of widespread depression amongst east coast birders following the dismal disappointment of Hurricane Earl.
ABA protocol during future storm systems will include a real-time relay of information gleaned from top seawatching sites back to a processing center in Bangalore India. There, an army of statisticians will sift through the data to make projections on the likely birding potential of the hurricane as it continues along its track.
This development is precipitated by the disappointment of Earl, a hurricane that reached New England as barely more than a tropical storm in a tea cup, with winds barely enough to lift hope.
Earl Grey, one of the world’s leading tea companies, has just announced a signature blend to mark the announcement. Named simply Earl, company press releases describe the tea as indescribably weak.
